Bollywood films have experienced significant growth at the worldwide box office over the past couple of decades. Before we look at the list, let’s revisit the fact that the first Bollywood film to cross the 200 crore gross mark at the worldwide box office was 3 Idiots. Released in 2009, the Rajkumar Hirani directorial starring Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, R Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi hit the milestone globally. Since then, the feat has been unleashed by a great number of films.
As we can see, Aamir Khan’s Dangal is the top spot in the highest-grossing Bollywood films at the worldwide box office with a gross collection of 1970 crores. The film was originally released in 2016. In its first phase, the film made over 750+ crores gross globally. In 2017, it arrived at the Chinese box office, which gave it a huge boost and eventually ended its record-breaking run by grossing over 1900 crores.
Among down South films, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which was released in 2017, is at the top with a collection of 893.19 crores gross at the worldwide box office from the Hindi version alone. 2022’s release, KGF Chapter 2 grossed 583.85 crores globally with its Hindi version.
