Ronnie Screwvala suggests Rs 2000 fine for not wearing mask as Mumbai sees rise in COVID-19 cases | Hindi Movie News - Bollywood - Times of India

India is witnessing a resurgence of coronavirus. This situation comes at a time when the pandemic appeared to be slowing in the country and globally. The worst affected state, Maharashtra has suddenly witnessed a rise in the daily cases, with over 900 cases on February 21. Followed by which, the Mumbai Police announced a gentle reminder for several offences in the city. Their official Twitter handle shared the fine which would be charged for offences like 'no helmet', 'no seatbelt' as a Rs 500 fine. For not wearing masks, it was Rs 200. Soon after, producer Ronnie Screwvala suggested an amount 10 times of the current fine, asking police to raise the figure to Rs 2000. He tweeted, 'Think we need to move No Mask to 2000/- fine from 200/-' Several netizens supported the producer's suggestion calling it a good idea! A while ago, Ronnie also raised concern over sudden announcements of theatrical releases by several filmmakers amidst the coronavirus pandemic. He tweeted, 'Funny(Hysterical) that everyone announcing Movie release dates like magically all back to normal! FOMO in announcements and theoretical discussions on ‘clashes’! personally cant see till 300Mill vaccinated that it’s really safe to ‘GoToTheMovies’-no such thing as #HerdImmunity' Ronnie further wrote, Big Screen is the magic we all live to tell Great Stories - and once we do get to a stage of real normalcy - there will be a Gold Rush to the Movie Theaters - but for now it’s just a word of caution and realism - let’s not live on FOMO.' Meanwhile, films like 83, Bellbottom, Atrangi Re and more have announced their release dates in the last week.
