Mumbai court dismisses complaint against Kangana Ranaut, her sister Rangoli Chandel in Tablighi Jamaat tweet case | Hindi Movie News - Bollywood - Times of India

A Mumbai court has granted relief to actress Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel and dismissed a complaint filed by advocate Kaashif Ali Khan Deshmukh against them. The court officially closed the proceedings against the siblings. Advocate Kaashif had filed a complaint stating that on April 15, 2020, Rangoli Chandel had posted a defamatory and objectionable remark against the Tablighi Jamaat on a the micro-blogging site. Hours later, her Twitter account was suspended. Her post reportedly 'incited violence against a particular religious group'. The suspension came after numerous instances of netizens reporting her account for 'spewing hate'. Kaashif had also stated that Rangoli's sister and actress Kangana, too, had supported her sister's statement. It is to be noted that Kangana's own Twitter account was ‘permanently suspended for repeated violation of Twitter rules’, earlier this year. Advocate Kaashif alleged that both Rangoli and Kanagana 'promoted enmity between different groups of religion and thereby caused disharmony between the members of it'. He claimed that 'both accused have outraged, insulted, and incited the feelings of the Muslim community'. The court had even sought an inquiry report under Section 202 of the Criminal Procedure Code from the Amboli Police Station. However, once the reports were received, Magistrate Bhagawat T Zirape said that for proceeding against the accused under sections 153-A, 153-B, 295-A and Section 505 of the Indian Penal Code, sanction of the central government, state government, or district magistrate is a must. And, without the sanction, the order of issue process cannot be passed against the accused. Magistrate Zirape further said that 'the complaint suffers from a legal defect, sanction from the competent government. The order of issue process is not sustainable in the absence of a sanction'. He then concluded and we quote, 'Therefore, I find no sufficient grounds for proceeding further against the proposed accused (Kangana and Rangoli) for want of sanction.'
